 Dr. Larry P. Nybladh began his official duties as the eighteenth superintendent of Grand Forks Public Schools on July 1, 2008. He has over two decades of professional experience as a classroom teacher, school administrator, and college professor, including nearly 20 years as a school district superintendent. His most previous work experience is as the superintendent of Moorhead Area Public Schools and an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of North Dakota where he taught graduate level courses in educational leadership, planning, organizational behavior theory, and school district administration and governance. A native of northwestern Minnesota, Nybladh grew up on a multigenerational family farm in the Red River Valley near the community of Stephen. Nybladh earned a bachelor of science degree with honors from the University of North Dakota with a double major in Geography and Social Science Composite, with a concentration in American History. He earned a master's degree in Educational Administration with a minor in Counseling from UND. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where he studied as a Bush Leadership Fellow. His doctorate includes a major in Educational Administration and minors in Philosophical Foundations of Education and American Government. Dr. Nybladh is active in many state and local organizations. His personal motto is, "Work hard, play hard." He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys motorcycling, water sports, fishing, and hunting. He is a prolific reader and collector of used and rare books. Larry and his wife, Karen, have four adult children and two grandchildren. |
