8th Grade Career Fairs
Middle School students in the Grand Forks Consortium Schools attend one of three Career Exploration Fairs. Business volunteers are recruited from all six of the Career Clusters:
- Administration and Sales
- Business Operations
- Technical
- Science and Technology
- Arts
- Social Service
Students pre-register for four career areas of interest. During a pre-fair lesson on the day of the Career Fair, students receive their schedules, indicating which three of their choices they will be learning about during the Career Fair. Included in the pre-fair lesson is an opportunity to think about what they already know about the career of interest and what aspect of the career they want to learn more about. Students attend four interactive 25-minute presentations during the Career Fair, recording notes during each session.
Eighth grade teachers conduct a follow-up lesson after the career fair. This portion of the day is designed to help the students bring meaning to all that they saw and heard during the career fair.
