Girls joined the Student Club and boys joined the Hi-Y. Student Club met originally in the YWCA, on the second floor of the Lander Building on DeMers, and later in class rooms and in the Junior High auditorium. The girls prepared original skits and plays, listened to speakers, gave Christmas gifts to needy families, told stories at the Public Library, and enjoyed picnics, Halloween parties, and colonial teas. They sponsored the first issue of the Centralian.. The money raised by selling peanuts and popcorn at games took care of service projects and also sent two or more delegated each year to the Girl Reserve Conference in Iowa.
The boys Hi-Y met weekly at the YMCA for lunch or supper, heard speeches on vocations, played basketball, gave mother-son banquets, sent delegates to the Older Boys' Conference, and once hosted the conference in Grand Forks.
