  • I was chosen to be a Varsity Alternate Competition cheerleader. What does that mean?

    Posted by:

Varsity competition alternates are a part of the Fall and Winter sideline teams as well as being an official part of the competition team.  They are required to do everything that the non-alternate cheerleaders are required to do; attend camp, summer stunting, attend every competition practice, and travel for every competition.

At competition practices, they usually don't get to do as much stunting as the non-alternates but need to come prepared to stunt in case we need them to fill in.

    Fees alternates are responsible for:
    -Competition warm-ups
    -Driver, transportation, and hotel fees
    -Music cutting/choreography/coaching fees

Initially, they do not pay for any registration fees. If they are needed to fill in for someone at a competition they will reimburse that person for the registration fees of that competition.

  • Can you explain fundraising opportunities to me?

    Posted by:

We can only apply fundraiser monies to summer camp and competition costs. Personal items that the cheerleader keeps are out of pocket.  Please see your tryout packet for a description of that year's estimated costs, bill timeline, and fundraiser opportunities. Only the currently running fundraisers will appear on this website.

  • True or False: I didn't/won't make varsity because I don't want to compete?

    Posted by:

This is false. You do NOT have to compete to be a Red River cheerleader at any level.

  • I've cheered for one/two/three years already so that means I'm on varsity next year?

    Posted by:

That is false. Teams are not chosen based on years of experience. It is possible to be a 2nd or 3rd year JV cheerleader.

Note: Seniors are not allowed to be on a JV team; HOWEVER, that does NOT mean they automatically make varsity. It IS possible to be cut from the cheer team entirely if you do not possess the necessary skills to move up to varsity your senior year.

  • When is the next cheer camp you're hosting for kids?

Dates are set over the summer, but typically we have it in October. Advertisements will be made through various avenues (this website, our Facebook/Twitter pages, etc.), so keep an eye out!
