Food Safety

  • Cook Managers are required to take and pass a college-level course on food safety called Serv-Safe.

SERVSAFE is a food handler training course that every lead person in the Child Nutrition program at our district schools is required to take. The course includes: - potentially hazardous foods & safe food handling practices - hazards to food - proper personal hygiene At the end of the training participants are required to take an 80-question exam. Upon passing the exam, each person receives nationally recognized certification. They are then required to be re-certified every five years.

Twice a year, the City Health Inspector conducts unannounced food service inspections.
