Greicar, John 2006 Graduate - Athlete
During a strong era of boys sports at Central, John Greicar was a three sport varsity letterwinner in football, hockey, and baseball. He played football from 2002-2005 and was a member of the State Runner-Up team in 2004 and State Championship team in 2005. In hockey, he won a EDC and State Championship in 2004, was State Runner-Up in 2005, and was Captain of the 2006 3rd Place team. His championship presence also helped lead the baseball team to an EDC championship in 2004 and a State Championship in 2006. He is one very few Central athletes to be on a state championship team in three different sports at Central High School. To go along with his titles, John was an All-Conference and All-State selection in football, hockey, and baseball.
When asked why Central stands apart from other schools, John said, "The people. A student-athlete couldn't ask for better role models to learn from and look up to. The halls are flooded with tradition, pride, and culture and it’s the leaders who ingrain those values into every student. When you compete in the Maroon and Grey, you take pride in knowing you are a part of something much bigger than yourself." John added this about his memories at Central, "There are thousands of memories to look back on, but the ones who made through adversity with my teammates and coaches are the ones that stick with me the most. I'm truly humbled to have had the honor to compete with each of them.
John lives in Mitchell, South Dakota and is currently the head baseball coach at Dakota Wesleyan University. John thanks his entire family for giving him their unconditional love and support and appreciates everything his mom and dad have done for him.
