Kennedy, Andrew 2007 Graduate - Athlete
Andrew was a two-sport standout athlete during his GFC career, excelling on the football field as well as on the wrestling mat. On the gridiron, Andrew was All-Conference and All-State in 2006. He was also the only junior to start on the 2005 GFC Football state championship team. During his wrestling career at GFC, Andrew placed 8th at state as a junior and was the EDC and State Champion at 285 pounds his senior season. He set a school record for wins in a season while compiling a 40-4 record during his senior season. Andrew was a captain and co-MVP for the wrestling team his senior year. Andrew also competed in track his senior season. His participation in these three sports earned him a varsity letter six times. A fascinating fact about Andrew is he is the only student athlete in GFC history to win an individual state wrestling championship and a state championship in football.
Andrew states that what sets GFC apart from other schools is, “its pride and tradition”. He further adds, “It is too hard to narrow down just one memory. This school and the people in it have played a big part in shaping the man I am today. There is no better school than Grand Forks Central.”
Andrew currently resides in Grand Forks with his girlfriend, Kristin, and their daughter, Hailey. He is a Technology and Engineering Education teacher at Valley Middle School where he also coaches football. Andrew has also been a coach for GFC wrestling for ten years; the last three years as associate head coach and last season he helped mentor Central wrestler Brady Terrill to his own state title.
