Dallas Kopp (1967-1999) started teaching and coaching after a highly successful prep and collegiate career. In the fall 1967, Dallas became the first coach for the Red River football program, serving in this position through 1979. Starting in the fall of 1980, Dallas led the girls golf team for the next twenty years, winning eight EDC championships, six East Region runner-up titles, and State Championships in 1988 and 1990. Dallas was recognized as the NDHSCA Class A Girls’ Golf Coach of the Year in 1985, 1988, and 1995. From 1983-1990, Dallas also served as the girls track and field head coach, leading the team to a second place finish at the state track meet in 1987. He was inducted into the Mayville State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995 and the North Dakota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2011.
