Tom Montgomery (1980-1983) helped the Red River Boys Hockey teams to consecutive State Runner Ups in 1982 and 1983. A standout Legion baseball player, Tom played baseball for UND from 1987 to 1990. He was a three-time All Conference selection and the 1990 NCC Conference Player of the Year. He is the UND All-time Leader in stolen bases and is in the All-time Top 10 in batting average (.356), RBI (123), home runs (25) and runs scored (123). Tom went on to a professional fastpitch softball career where he competed on the International Softball Congress World Team in 1994, 1997, and 2000. The 2000 team won the World Championship. He helped Team USA win a Silver Medal at the 1999 Pan American Games and a Bronze Medal at the 2000 ISF Olympic Games. He was inducted into the UND Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003 and the ND Softball Hall of Fame in 2006.
