    YELLOW LEVEL (MODERATE RISK)

    • Four fans per GFPS participants will be allowed at all events, depending on venue capacity limits, except swimming and gymnastics.
    • Two fans per visiting participants will be allowed at all events, depending on venue-specific capacity limits, except swimming and gymnastics.
    • Children aged 0-2 may attend events with guardian and will not count as an assigned ticket holder.
    • Students in K-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Fan Attendance at Middle School Level Events:

    • Attendance at Middle School events will follow the above policy in each school’s large gym. No fans will be allowed for events in a school’s smaller gym.

Fan Attendance at Swimming and Gymnastics Events:

    • Until further notice, no fans are allowed at swimming events.
At this time, attendance at gymnastics events is limited to two fans per participant.

NOTE: Dr. Joel Walz, Grand Forks County Health Officer, enacted a county-wide mask mandate on January 15th, 2021. The order requires face coverings to be worn in indoor businesses and indoor public settings as well as outdoor public settings where physical distancing is not possible.  This order maintains exceptions for children under the age of five, individuals with medical or mental health conditions or disabilities that make it unreasonable to wear a mask, and when an individual is participating in a religious service.

    RISK LEVEL DETERMINATION:

    • Levels will be communicated internally to administrators Friday regarding the following week’s risk level.
    • Levels will be communicated to constituents Sunday regarding the week’s risk levels. The level will not change during the week once announced.
    • Before we react to a change in risk level, we will wait one full week to avoid up and down fluctuations and ensure it is a predictive number.
    • Regardless of risk level, safety protocols will remain in place and enforced. This includes proper mask-wearing at all times, physical distancing standards, hand sanitation, etc.

RED LEVEL (SEVERE RISK) = No fans

    December 10, 2020

The following items serve as knowledge and guidance for mask usage and fan attendance within our programs.  These items are current as of December 10, 2020, but may change at any time on short notice.

    Mask Usage and Close Contacts:

    • Six feet for fifteen minutes is not the standard for high respiration activities. The threshold for close contact tracing of high respiration activity is undefined but has been less than the standard six feet for fifteen minutes.
    • Unmasked individuals, either the positive case or the close contact, identified as close contacts are subject to quarantine.
      • Close contacts may be released from quarantine after Day 10 if they are asymptomatic.
      • Close contacts may be released from quarantine after Day 7 if they are asymptomatic and test negative. The test cannot be administered more than 48 hours prior to release.  Official test results must be presented to school administration prior to resuming activity in order for the athlete to return before the end of the 10 day quarantine period.
    • Close contacts as a result of mask-to-mask contact are not subject to quarantine and are able to continue practicing and competing as long as the individual is asymptomatic. These individuals are asked to self-monitor for 14 days.
      • To be considered as a mask to mask close contact, masks must be completely and correctly worn for the entire time. Either individual removing his/her for any period of time while in contact will negate the guidelines for mask-to-mask contact.

Fan Attendance at High School Level Events:

The GFPS fan attendance guidelines are based on the daily risk level as determined by Grand Forks County Health on the Grand Forks County Health Dashboard (NOT the North Dakota DoH dashboard) two days prior to the date of the contest.  *Gymnastics fan limits are still pending.*

    Risk Level Red:

    • No fans allowed at any event.

    Risk Level Orange:

    • Two family members per GFPS participants only will be allowed at all events except swimming (no fans).

    Risk Level Yellow:

    • Two family members per all participants will be allowed at all events, depending on venue-specific capacity limits, except swimming.

    Risk Level Green:

    • Fan attendance capped at 50% of the venue capacity.

**Until further notice, no fans will be admitted to Middle School level events.

NOTE: State Health Officer order requiring face coverings to be worn in indoor businesses and indoor public settings as well as outdoor public settings where physical distancing isn’t possible, has been extended to 12:01 a.m. Jan. 18. The amended order still includes exceptions for children under age 5 and individuals with a medical or mental health condition or disability that makes it unreasonable to wear a mask.
