Education is a cooperative venture between families, teachers, and administrators working toward the goal of the betterment of young people and the community. Family involvement is a key component in the success of our students.

Grand Forks Public Schools offer a number of opportunities to all students of the elementary, middle, and high schools to participate in the academic and athletic programs. The programs are intended to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of the participants. Students within Grand Forks Public Schools are encouraged to participate in academic, athletic, volunteer, and additional leadership opportunities.
ELEMENTARY
Elementary students are given the opportunity to participate in athletic intramural programs in the 4th and 5th grades. Students can participate in soccer, flag football, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, wrestling, track and floor hockey. Students also have the opportunity to participate in various school programs such as the Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Student Council, Junior Achievement, Honor Chorus, and many others.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Students can participate in many intramural and interschool activities. The intramural activities include bowling, soccer, swimming, basketball, floor hockey, cheerleading, and flag football. The middle schools play each other as well as other area schools in sports programs such as cross country, football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, and track. There are also numerous academic programs offered to students, including Student Council, Mathcounts, Spelling Bee, Geography Olympiad, music and drama programs.
HIGH SCHOOL
The Grand Forks high schools are members of the North Dakota High School Activities Association. This organization plans, directs, and sponsors competitive activities amount member schools. Please check with the Athletic Department to view the full list of high school sports sponsored by Grand Forks Public Schools. Students are also provided the opportunity to participate in a wide range of academic extracurricular activities, including: Speech, Debate, Student Council, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Chorus, Band, French Club, Orchestra, German Club, Class Committees/Officers, DECA, Skills-USA, School Newspapers, Yearbook, and Dance team.
