Polls will be open at 7 a.m. Central Time and shall remain open continuously thereafter until 7 p.m. Central Time.
Free public transportation may be available on June 22. Additional information will be provided as plans are finalized.
The County of Grand Forks shall administer absentee balloting. Absentee voter applications shall be available from both Grand Forks County (151 S 4th St., S10.) and Grand Forks Public School District #1 (2400 47th Ave. S). Voters may contact Grand Forks County at 701-780-8200 or Grand Forks Public Schools at 701-746-2200 (please ask for Scott Berge, business manager) to request an application.
Ballots and absentee envelopes will be distributed by the County of Grand Forks upon receipt of an absentee voter application. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by June 21, 2021.
All absentee ballots shall be received by the County of Grand Forks and given to the Election Board on Election Day for their processing into the Absentee Roster. The Election Board will open, initial, and deposit all absentee ballots into the ballot voting box provided by Grand Forks Public School District #1.
Notice of Special Election
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, a special election will be held in Grand Forks Public School District No. 1 of Grand Forks County, North Dakota, for the purpose of submitting to the voters of said School District, the question as to whether the following Initial Resolution for the issuance of general obligation bonds adopted by the School Board of the School District on March 22, 2021, at a regular meeting of the School Board duly called and held, shall be approved:
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Grand Forks Public School District No. 1, of Grand Forks County, North Dakota (the "School District"), that it is necessary and expedient for the School District to issue its general obligation school building bonds as hereafter described:
1.The maximum amount of bonds proposed to be issued is $86,000,000.
2.The purpose for which the bonds are proposed to be issued is to provide funds, together with any other funds available, to construct and equip a new K-8 campus; to demolish school buildings; to renovate, remodel and improve school buildings; and to otherwise improve and renovate school property.
3.The assessed valuation of all taxable property in the School District as defined in N.D.C.C. § 21-03-01, is $2,670,810,757 as last finally equalized for the year 2020.
4.The total amount of bonded indebtedness of the School District, all issued for school building purposes, is $28,404,501.
YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED that the School District intends to issue the $86,000,000 general obligation bonds resulting in an additional millage of 21.95 mills, equal to $21.95 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation for the first taxable year after all of the bonds are issued.
AND YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
That the School Board of the School District, by Resolution duly adopted on March 22, 2021, has resolved to submit the question of increasing the school building fund levy of the School District from 10 mills to 20 mills as permitted by Section 57-15-16 of the North Dakota Century Code, at the election of which notice is hereby given; that the election of which you are hereby notified is to be held for the further purpose of submitting to the electors of Grand Forks Public School District No. 1 of Grand Forks County, North Dakota, the question of whether or not the school building fund levy of the School District shall be increased from 10 mills to 20 mills as permitted by Section 57-15-16 of the North Dakota Century Code.
AND YOU ARE FURTHER NOTIFIED AS FOLLOWS:
That the polling place for holding said election will be:

And you are further notified that the polls of said election will be open at 7:00 A.M., CT, and will remain open continuously thereafter until 7:00 P.M., CT, of that day; and that said election is to be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
