Red River Announces Inaugural
Athletic Hall of Fame Class
The Red River High School Hall of Fame Committee has selected 22 individuals to its inaugural class of Athletic Hall of Fame.
The 2017 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees are: George Bowman, Jeff Compton, Patty Purpur deVries, Bob Fowler, Tom Gabrielsen, David Geatz, Ken Hallgrimson, Virgil Hill, Kerry Jaeger, Andrea Kelly, Dallas Kopp, Dave Levos, Shane McMenamy, Reed Monson, Mark Murdock, Wendy Kinneberg Pieper, Craig Skarperud, Tim Skarperud, Claude Smith, Ken Towers, Charyl Weingarten, Sarine Weingarten.
The class will be formally inducted during a ceremony on January 6 at 5 p.m. in the Red River Theatre. The inductees will also be honored during the Red River vs. Grand Forks Central basketball games that same evening. A social will also be held following the games.
The Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize athletes, coaches, and significant supporters of Red River High School athletics.
“We are excited to recognize these 22 Red River past student-athletes and their contributions to our programs,” said Kris Arason, principal of Red River High School and a member of the Red River Hall of Fame Committee. "We look forward to their return to Red River and honoring their great accomplishments."
The inductees are the first individuals among 50 graduating classes to be honored in this way.
