Grand Forks Foundation for Education Awards $35,910 for Local School Projects

GRAND FORKS, ND – The Grand Forks Foundation for Education, Inc. is awarding $35,910 this spring to help fund a variety of enrichment projects in Grand Forks Public Schools. In addition to $8,972 for 10 Mini Grant projects, the Foundation is awarding $26,938 to fund three Impact Grant projects.

The Mini Grants have been funded through the Foundation for Education since 1992. Awards are usually for classroom-level or grade-level projects. All areas of curriculum and all grade levels are eligible for Mini Grants.

The Bill and Shirley Brown Endowment for Education makes the Foundation’s Impact Grants possible. Income from the Brown Endowment is used to fund projects, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, with the potential for lasting influence at the district or grade level, or at one or more schools.

  • $1,100  Mikayla Borud and Winship Elementary School for ‘Uke’ Can Do Anything
  • $1,579  Adam Eckert and all elementary/middle physical education for Cross Net Co-Up
  • $400     Angie Gietzen and South Middle School for Resiliency Book Club
  • $557     Grant Larson and South Middle School for Let's Build It - Keva Planks
  • $627     Aimee Rogers and South Middle School More Manga Mania
  • $1,173  Justin Johnson and Elroy Schroeder Middle School for Reaching All Readers
  • $1,320  Tim Gregoire and Valley Middle School for Makerspace LittleBits STEAM Kits
  • $1,300  Ligia Carina Feo and Grand Forks Central High School for Sensory Materials for Students with Special Needs

Impact Grants:

  • $4,938 Trina Connell and South, Elroy Schroeder, and Valley middle schools for 6th Grade Music iPad Integration
  • $7,000 Kim Sande and Reading Recovery for Integrating the Science of Reading into Elementary Reading Interventions
  • $15,000 Alex Hovey and Red River and Grand Forks Central high schools for RRHS & GFC Recording Studios
