Students Excel at State Science and Engineering Fair

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Students from Grand Forks Public Schools grabbed several top spots at the North Dakota State Science and Engineering Fair, held virtually March 25-26.

The fair was sponsored by the University of North Dakota College of Engineering and Mines.

Red River High School students Shri Patel and Sudiksha Singhal both advanced to compete at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held virtually May 3-6. Singhal will represent the Northeast Region while Patel will attend as one of three at-large representatives from the state of North Dakota.

ISEF will host more than 1,800 high school students from all 50 states and 75 countries and territories from around the world. Students will present their science or engineering projects to judges and compete for hundreds of monetary prizes and scholarships.

Grand Forks area middle school students also competed at the virtual state science and engineering fair.

South Middle School students earned several stop spots at the fair. Sonakshi Singhal finished second, Olivia Whitney and Rebecca Sather took home 3rd place while Madelyn Streyle placed 4th.

Also competing in the state fair were South Middle School students Khalid Alghamdi, Brooke Carlson, Daryn Daku, Elizabeth Flagg, Isaiah Gaye, Garrett Krefting, William Krump, Rylie Lelm, Geovanna Lima, Jordan Peters, Alexander Prichard, Angelica Snyder, Brookelyn Vanda-Jenkins, and Arista Welsh. Also presenting was McKayla Sagini from Elroy Schroeder Middle School.
