Two Reminders from Grand Forks Public Schools

Grand Forks Public Schools families,

We wanted to pass along two reminders to you today - one related to COVID-19 and the other regarding our 2020-2021 school year calendar.

  1. In the event of a COVID-19 case in a face-to-face classroom: individuals identified as close contacts within the school setting will receive a notification, which will be sent by your student’s school/Grand Forks Public Schools on behalf of Grand Forks Public Health. If an individual is not notified, the individual was not considered a close contact. Close contact is defined by the CDC as, “anyone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 48 hours before the person began feeling sick until the time the patient was isolated.”

  2. There are 14 early release dates on the calendar for Kindergarten-12th grades this school year. We plan to follow those dates as outlined regardless of the learning scenario(s) we are utilizing (i.e. face-to-face, intermittent remote, remote learning). On those dates, middle and high schools will dismiss at 1 p.m., and elementary schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Families who provided a mobile phone number during registration will receive an SMS/text message reminder of each early release at 7 p.m. the evening prior. The first early release will be on Wednesday, September 23rd. The full 2020-2021 calendar can be viewed on our website (www.gfschools.org), smartphone app (visit https://www.gfschools.org/Page/8832 for more information), and a PDF copy is available below.

Thank you.
