Additional Information
Valley Middle School is part of the Comprehensive School Improvement grant (CSI) for three years beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. As part of the comprehensive improvement process Valley Middle School has been working with the Lavinia Group.
The Lavinia Group focuses on hands-on, side-by-side work with teachers and leaders. At Valley Middle School, Lavinia has analyzed data alongside instructional leaders in order to best support student outcomes. Within Lavinia’s Rapid Improvement Cycle, Valley Middle School has collaborated to create an intervention and enrichment pilot program to implement in our 6th grade classes for a six-week cycle this spring. The Lavinia Group has provided Valley with resources (including model lessons and lesson templates) to use during the 30-minute W.I.N. (What I Need) Time. In their follow-up visits this spring, Valley Middle School’s Instructional Coach from Lavinia will be cycling through these small-group structures and providing feedback and additional support.
The Lavinia Group is deeply invested in literacy development and works to meet the needs of individual schools and students. They have come alongside the instructional leaders at Valley Middle School and really built their capacity around literacy, hile determining points for entry and resources for intervention.
